What the solar pipeline is, and what it is not
In the solar sector, a pipeline is the set of projects at different points of the development cycle, from the first land agreement to commercial operation. On Pipeline.Solar the word has a narrower meaning: it is the confidential flow of projects that reach us from a network of developers and project owners, which we organise and route to the investors who can actually use them.
It is not a public database. Projects are not published on the website, there is nothing to browse, and no project page can be found by search engines. An investor sees a project only when it arrives as a teaser, because its characteristics fit the criteria set in the reserved area.
Where the projects in the pipeline come from
The solar project development pipeline is fed by a network built over time across Italy:
- Developers who exit at RTB or seek a co-development partner. See solar project developers in Italy.
- Project owners, including companies that hold permits or operating plants and want to sell.
- Technical and engineering studios that develop projects for landowners and need an investor.
- EPC contractors that hold authorised projects or build turnkey plants for sale.
Pipeline.Solar is a private origination and matching service that connects investors with projects. The volume and type of opportunities depend on the projects available at the time, so no stage, region or size can be promised in advance.
Four stages in the pipeline
Every project in the green pipeline is placed in one of four stages, always with the same names:
- Greenfield: co-development with a developer, paid at milestones up to RTB.
- RTB: authorised projects, late-stage projects with a declared gap, and turnkey plants.
- Brownfield: plants built or nearly complete, waiting for connection.
- COD: plants in operation with production history.
Technologies include ground-mounted PV, agrivoltaic, standalone BESS and hybrid PV plus storage.
Standard data and preliminary screening
When a project enters the pipeline it is recorded with the same set of fields: power, STMG cost, estimated days to connection, land under surface right (DDS) or for sale with the related costs, development cost, PAS filed and PAS approved. Using the same fields for every project makes opportunities comparable, even when they come from sources that prepare their files in different ways.
Before anything is sent, our staff runs a preliminary screening: consistency of the data, completeness of the main fields and coherence between declared stage and documents. This is not a due diligence, which remains with the investor and their advisors, but it removes files that are not ready to be shown.
How the pipeline reaches investors
Distribution works through teasers, sent only to investors whose criteria match. The main filter is the power of the single plant: if it falls between the minimum and maximum MW you set, the project is a candidate for you. Stage, region, technology and structure (SPV share deal, asset deal, co-development) refine the selection.
Every teaser is sent manually by our staff from deal@pipeline.solar, with a personal link. There is no automatic dispatch and no newsletter. After the teaser, the next steps are the NDA, the data room and direct negotiation with the owner, as described in how it works.

Frequently asked questions
Can I see all the projects in the pipeline?
No. The pipeline is not public and there is no list to browse. You receive a teaser only for projects compatible with your criteria, and details only after the NDA.
Are grid connection costs already defined?
Each teaser reports the STMG cost and the estimated days to connection declared for the project. Where the STMG has not been accepted yet, this is clearly indicated.
Can I enter at different development stages?
Yes. You can select one or more stages among greenfield, RTB, brownfield and COD, and change them at any time in your reserved area.
Is an NDA required to access project details?
Yes. The teaser is anonymous. Location, counterparties and documents are disclosed after the NDA and, where foreseen, a scouting agreement.
